The patient infected with new stain of COVID-19 had no travel history, - Paata Imnadze, Deputy Head of the National Center for Disease Control, said after the Coordinating Council meeting.

“Our new mutant strain patient has no travel history. But he had contact with a person who had a travel history before becoming ill. A sample of this person has been found, and sequencing is underway,” Imnadze said.

However, the first case of a new variant of coronavirus has been reported in Georgia. The patient is a man over 50, whose condition is satisfactory and he is in isolation.
