“It’s an exciting day for the Georgian people! The freedom to choose your leaders through fair elections is absolutely fundamental to a true democracy.” Ambassador Degnan commented as she met this morning with just some of the Embassy staff coordinating the work of the Emabssy's observation teams traveling throughout Georgia to observe today’s election.
“The United States is actively supporting these elections and really wants the elections to go smoothly - Kelly Degnan commented - But ultimately, the success of Georgia’s election is up to the Georgian government and the Georgian people. It is vital that Georgian citizens make their voices heard by voting.”
Throughout the day, Ambassador Degnan will be visiting polling sites, meeting with election officials, and talking with civil society election observers about what they are seeing and hearing.
