“There can be no immediate lifting of the restrictions”

Back

We have to take into consideration that each step must be taken extremely carefully and thoughtfully, there can be no immediate lifting of the restrictions, said Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia during a meeting with representatives of the tourism sector.

According to the Prime Minister, in order to encourage the arrival of tourists in Georgia, it is important the country to have the name of a safe country amid the coronavirus pandemic.

"First of all, we are starting to develop tourism from the regions and not, for example, from Tbilisi, because there are other risks and it is a bit more difficult to manage these risks in Tbilisi, much easier in Kakheti and in other regions. We must take into consideration that each step must be extremely careful and extremely thoughtful, there can be no sudden and rapid removal of the restrictions. We must act in a way that does put the reputation of Georgia as a country that has effectively fought against the coronavirus under question. This is very important, otherwise, there will be no tourism and no guests in the country. First of all, we have to be clean, safe, green from Covid, and after that we can talk about everything, ”PM Gakharia said.
