There is a possibility to significantly increase wine export to the US - Minister

Minister of Agriculture Otar Shamugia states that there is a great opportunity in terms of wine export in the US market and the Ministry will work in this direction.

According to him, the Ministry spends approximately 12 million GEL for the promotion of Georgian wine, and this money is directed to predetermined priority markets, including the USA.

As Otar Shamugia said after the end of the government meeting, the amount allocated for wine promotion will increase in the following years.

"We have agreed with the importers and also with our embassy that we will work together in a coordinated way to organize such events to promote and raise awareness of our wine in this market. We also agreed with this company ["Colangelo and Partners"] that during the vintage period, together with representatives of the American media, we will come to Georgia, organize a tour, which will be covered in the US media. This will be another step in the promotion of our wine", says Shamugia.

This year, wine worth more than USD 2 million was exported from Georgia to the USA.
