Today NCDC transferred USD 575,000 to Covax platform – NCDC Head

The head of the National Center for Disease Control, Amiran Gamkrelidze declares, that today, the National Center for Disease Control transferred USD 575,000 to the Covax platform.

“As you know, the NCDC makes purchases through the United Nations Children's Fund. Rest assured that the first batch of vaccines from the Covax platform will arrive this month and vaccination will start in Georgia with the vaccine from Covax platform, most likely with the Astrazeneka vaccine", - Gamkrelidze said.

According to him, there is an offer from the Covax platform for a new American vaccine Novovax in addition to Astrazeneca.

"Novovax will be placed on Covax in about 2 months. This is a new innovative vaccine that Georgia will receive and we are negotiating directly with its manufacturer to receive additional doses", - said Amiran Gamkrelidze.

Georgia already transferred 4 million USD several months ago.
