Georgia has increased commodity exports to Russia, - according to the preliminary data from the National Statistics Office of Georgia (Geostat).
According to the document, in January-June 2022, goods worth $ 210.2 million were exported to the Russian Federation, which was 3.7% more compared to the previous year. As a result, Russia is still Georgia's third largest export country. Georgia's main export commodity to Russia is ferroalloys, which exports increased by 44% this year to USD 79.3 million. The second position is occupied by wines, which export amounted to USD 46 million.
TOP-5 Export Commodities To Russia:
1) Ferroalloys - USD 79.3 million, 37,900 tons, an increase of 44% over the previous year;
2) Wines – USD 46.1 million, 17,000 tons, a decrease of 3.1% over the previous year;
3) Mineral and fresh water – USD 17 million, 31,800 tons, a decrease of 31% over the previous year;
4) Alcoholic beverages - USD 9.9 million, 2,400 tons, a decrease of 24% over the previous year;
5) Carbonated waters with sugar - USD 8.8 million, 13,900 tons, a decrease of 13.7% over the previous year.
BMG has requested information from Geostat which companies export the most commodities to Russia. Most of the companies on the list are engaged in the export of alcoholic beverages. The list also includes mineral water producer Borjomi and export companies of ferroalloys GTM Group and Steel International Trading Company.
