"I am absolutely convinced that tourism is recovering faster in Georgia than we initially expected with pessimistic forecasts," said Natia Turnava, Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, who is part of the Georgian government delegation at the Fitur 2021 Madrid Tourism Fair.

"I think the recovery will be more than 30%, it could be up to 50%. Of course, a lot depends on the global pandemic, but vaccination has started. We see that numerous groups from different countries are already visiting us," - said Turnava.

According to the Minister, the number of tourists arriving in Georgia from the Persian Gulf countries, Israel, the European Union, and neighboring countries has increased.

"We see an increased interest in the Madrid exhibition that more European tourists will come to Georgia. Opening land borders will help a more active influx of tourists from our neighborhood. We are working on opening the land borders safely, with very serious control, in the same way, we opened air borders," Natia Turnava said.
