In April of this year, compared to April 2020, the activity in the tourism sector increased by 152%, - said the Minister of Finance, Lasha Khutsishvili, during his "Minister's Hour" speech in the Parliament.
As he pointed out, the main purpose of the assistance provided to the tourism sector was for companies to be able to recover quickly in the post-pandemic period.
"Activity in the accommodation and food sector decreased by 75% in 2020. However, April 2021 data show that we have a very fast recovery trend.
Activity in this sector has increased almost two and a half times. This figure indicates that the industry has overcome the crisis and is fully prepared for the restoration of tourism, "- said the Minister of Finance, Lasha Khutsishvili.
