The restaurant industry announces about a labor shortage. The sector is looking for waiters, bartenders and cooks for the second month, but supply is still twice short compared to the demand.

Zura Chitaia, the founder of the restaurant "Black Dog Bars Georgia", says that they do not have half of the necessary staff in their five facilities in the second month after the opening, which has a significant negative impact on quality.

“We do not expect this problem, we have started looking for the labor force after the opening, but we do not have half of the necessary staff. We have been looking for people on a daily basis for a month and a half and wonder where they have gone amid the pandemic. Some of them probably left for abroad, others moved to a delivery service. One of the weekends, even though we were officially open, we could not work. As I see, no one can solve this problem in our field.

I know it was difficult to pay normal during the Lockdown, but we already returned to practically the level we had before the pandemic. Now, we have adequate conditions, there are good career opportunities for those who are interested in this field.

Georgia is not at a high level in terms of services, so we often hear complaints from tourists about it, and now the assessments that the quality has dropped will probably become more active. It will be logical because now we serve them with 1-2 waiters instead of 3-4. Obviously, this is a precondition for the dissatisfaction of the guest", Zura Chitaia, the founder of the restaurant declared.
