Turkey's annual inflation hits 78.6% in June

Turkey's annual inflation rate was at 78.62% in June, the country's statistical authority said on Monday.

The consumer price index saw a 4.95% rise on a monthly basis, according to the Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat).

The lowest annual increase was 23.74% in communication. Clothing and footwear with 26.99%, education with 27.76% and health with 39.34%, were the other main groups where low annual increases realized.

On the other hand, transportation with 123.37%, food and non-alcoholic beverages with 93.93% and furnishings and household equipment with 81.14% were the main groups where high annual increases realized.

In June 2022, clothing and footwear with 0.18%, health with 1.97% and recreation and culture with 2.02% were the main groups that indicated lowest monthly increase.

On the other hand, transportation with 10.59%, housing with 8.34%, and hotels, cafes and restaurants with 5.42% were the main groups where high monthly increases realized.

A rise in CPI excluding unprocessed food, energy, alcoholic beverages, tobacco and gold was realized in CPI on the previous month by 4.20%, on December of the previous year by 32.95%, on same month of the previous year by 64.42% and on the twelve months moving averages basis by 38.59% in June 2022.
