Turkey’s Foreign Trade Deficit Decreased by 13.1% in Jan-May 2021

In January-May 2021 period, foreign trade deficit of Turkey was US$ 18.2 billion with a 13.1% decrease compared with January-May 2020. In the same period, exports coverage imports was 82.3% while it was 74.5% in January-May 2020.
 
According to TurkStat, during January-May 2021 period, exports worth US$ 85 209 000 000 with a 38.3% increase and imports were US$ 103 485 000 000 with a 25.2% increase compared with January-May 2020.
 
During the report period, according to economic activities, the ratios of manufacturing industries products, agriculture, forestry and fishing, mining and quarrying in total exports were 94.3%, 3.3%, 1.9%, respectively.

The main partner country for exports during Jan-May 2021 was Germany with US$ 7 683 000 000. The country was followed by USA with US$ 5 427 000 000, the United Kingdom with US$4 983 000 000, Italy with US$4 397 000 000 and Iraq with US$3 981 000 000. The ratio of the first five countries in total exports was 31.1% in January-May 2021.

In January-May 2021 period, the top country for Turkey's imports was China with US$12 286 000 000. The country was followed by Russia with US$10 312 000 000, Germany with US$9 354 000 000, USA with US$4 700 000 000, Italy with US$4 575 000 000. The ratio of first five countries in total imports was 39.8% in January-May 2021.
