TV Advertising Revenue Up By 11.3% In 1Q – COMCOM

The Communications Commission reports, that TV and radio advertising increased by 10.6% and amounted to GEL 17.8 million in 1Q2022.

According to the report, the amount received from TV advertising amounted to GEL 16.3 million, which is an increase of 11.3% compared to the same period of the last year. The share of sponsorship in total advertising revenue has made up 14.3%, which is an increase of 6.3% compared to the previous year.

"In 1Q2022, TV-company Imedi still had the largest share by the TV advertising revenue, which revenue increased by GEL 0.2 million compared to the same period last year and amounted to GEL 5.4 million. Revenues from advertising and sponsorship increased to the Media Holding Mtavari by GEL 0.6 million and GEL 2.5 million in the first quarter. However, Rustavi 2's advertising revenue decreased by GEL 0.1 million to GEL 1.9 million. As for TV Pirveli, the company received advertising revenue of GEL 1.6 million in 1Q. TV-company Formula's revenue from advertising doubled to GEL 1.4 million compared to the previous year. Silknet and PosTV’s revenues from advertising increased by 0.1-0.1 million GEL. Silknet’s revenue amounted to GEL 0.9 million, while PosTV – GEL 0.8 million. Other broadcasters received a total of GEL 0.9 million in advertising revenue.

As for radio broadcasters, their advertising revenues increased by 2.8% in the first quarter of 2022 and amounted to 1.5 million GEL, of which 89.2% was advertising and 10.8% was sponsorship," the regulator said.
