Ukraine needs between $40 billion to $48 billion of funding this year in order for its economy to function. Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Kristalina Georgieva said this at a press conference in Dubai, Ukrinform reports, referring to Bloomberg.

According to her, the IMF is working on a program with Ukraine and has been supporting it in running a “war economy”. The U.S. and European Union are involved in this process.

“I am full of admiration for the Ukrainian authorities,” she said.

The IMF chief also described hearing sirens and Ukrainian officials went to bomb shelters during their virtual meetings with the Washington-based lender.

On February 13, an IMF mission, led by Gavin Gray, began policy discussions with the Ukrainian authorities to prepare for the review of Program Monitoring with Board Involvement (PMB).
