Since the start of the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine, at least 4,113 civilians have been murdered and 4,916 more have been injured. As of early May 31, the figures were released by the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights.

The most civilian casualties occurred in the Donetsk and Luhansk areas (2,337 killed and 2,808 injured).
1,776 individuals were murdered and 2,108 more were injured in other parts of Ukraine where military activities took place or are ongoing.
The actual estimates are likely to be far higher, according to the OHCHR, because information from some areas where significant battles have occurred has been delayed, and many reports are still awaiting confirmation. This includes Mariupol (Donetsk region), Izium (Kharkiv region), and Popasna (Luhansk area), where numerous civilians have been reported killed.
At least 22,000 people have died in Mariupol, according to estimates from the city council. During the blockade of Mariupol, the Russian army killed about 25,000 people, largely civilians, according to the Azov Regiment, Bolnews reports.
