Up to 400,000 doses of "Pfizer" remain unused, I am angry with myself and you, who have not got the COVID-19 shots, - said the head of the National Center for Disease Control, Amiran Gamkrelidze at a briefing today.

According to Gamkrelidze, last year the country mobilized five million doses of COVID-19 vaccines, unprecedented number for a small country like Georgia.

"We had five million doses of vaccines, of which about 2,040,000 doses were Pfizer vaccines. To date, about 1,700,000 doses of Pfizer were consumed. That is, somewhere up to 400,000 doses, which remain unused and expire on March 31.

The first U.S. donation, enrolled in July, when we had the highest vaccination rate in August-September, as 23,000 doses were administrated in a day in August. Over 20,000 vaccines were administrated in a day in September. Vaccines purchased by the state budget were also fully administrated. The rest of the donations were shipped relatively late and unfortunately, I can tell you straight away that I am very heartbroken, I'm angry at myself and you, who did not get the jabs in spite of many promotions. As for the other vaccines, we have two million doses of Sinopharm and Sinovak vaccines, including about 1,600,000 doses of vaccine have a term until July 2023," - said Amiran Gamkrelidze.
