“President Zourabichvili is a fantastic representative of Georgia, as we have seen over the last month. She attended the last year’s summit where all the countries made certain commitments, and this summit is the follow-up of these commitments,” said Kelly Degnan, US Ambassador to Georgia.

The US Ambassador was asked about President Joe Biden’s co-hosted Second Summit for Democracy, which Georgian President Salome Zourabichvili would attend instead of the Prime Minister or any member of Parliament.

“In Georgia’s case, there were whole of the government’s commitments, and there is also the government’s participation in fulfilling the agenda that Georgia set for itself in terms of improving democracy and fighting corruption.

I believe the foreign ministers will be also giving video addresses on the second day of the summit, which will be in the Netherlands. I think it reflects the commitment by President Zourabichvili, who has done an excellent job by representing Georgia and the government as well, in terms of the commitment Georgia has in strengthening democracy and fighting corruption,” she said.
