Today, Ambassador Kelly C. Degnan participated in the groundbreaking ceremony of a new Kombucha production facility in the village of Karapila, located in the Kaspi municipality of Georgia’s Shida Kartli region.

The new facility is supported by USAID and Startup Georgia and represents a part of the U.S. Government’s wider effort to support communities along the Administrative Boundary Lines (ABL).

Ambassador Degnan was joined by Shida Kartli Governor Giorgi Khojevanishvili, as well as partners from USAID, the JSC Partnership Fund, and Startup Georgia, and the private investors and business owners.

The U.S. government will continue to assist and invest in the communities located near the occupied territories of South Ossetia and Abkhazia, because the United States remains committed to Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity within its internationally recognized borders.
