Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia urges the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia and the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Georgia to fully cooperate with the investigation, which will be open and transparent. The matter concerns to the tragic death of 15-year-old Luka Siradze.

“My deep condolences over the ragic death of 15-year-old Luka Siradze. I declare with full responsibility that all persons will be strictly punished, regardless of their rank or status if their crime will be confirmed by the State Inspector’s Service.

The State Inspector’s Service which is investigating this case, should not leave the questions. Therefore, I urge the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia and the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Georgia to fully cooperate with the investigation, which will be open and transparent.

As for juvenile justice, education or health care challenges, although we have taken many steps in recent years to improve legislation or practice in this area, we still have years of problems.

In practice, there are still challenges in some cases due to the lack of appropriate services or child-friendly environments, and in some cases, the lack of qualifications.

The Government of Georgia takes full responsibility for accelerating the reform that has already begun;
Everyone should cooperate with the investigation as much as possible,’ the Prime Minister’s statement reads.

To note, 15-year-old juvenile, who was injured when attempting to commit suicide, died in a hospital on December 17.
