Natia Turnava, Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, spoke about the tourism as one of the most important sectors of economic growth. As Turnava notes, this is a field that brings "a great social positive" to Georgia.
“As you know, tourism is one of the locomotives of our economic growth, which is consistently in the Top-3 of the sectors. But besides, this is a field that brings great social positive. Because tourism involves not only large but also small businesses and specific families in the form of family hotels. Therefore, we are doing our utmost to mitigate negative impact caused by Russia's suspension of flights. We try to make more diversification.
You know that direct flights by Wizz Air have doubled in recent months by our support and we have brought Ryan Air as well. Moreover, our negotiations with low-budget company Indigo have been successfully concluded”, Turnava said.
