The main purpose of the visits to EU member states is to talk with our partners about Georgia's progress in the EU, to explain what we are doing to ensure that the 12 recommendations are implemented, and to tell them that it was a disappointment for us when the status was not granted in June, said the Chairman of the Parliament, Shalva Papuashvili, who, together with the parliamentary delegation, is continuing his visit to Holland and Luxembourg.

According to the Chairman of the Parliament, within the framework of the visit, a number of important meetings are planned regarding the process of Georgia's integration into the European Union.

According to him, there is a common position that the decision regarding the Georgia's candidate status was made incorrectly in June.

"We continue to visit EU member states. After Spain, Portugal, Germany, we will have meetings in the Netherlands and Luxembourg. The main purpose of the visits is to talk with our partners about Georgia's progress in the EU, to explain what we are doing to meet the 12 recommendations and to tell them that it was a disappointment for us when the status was not granted in June. There is already a consensus that it was not the right decision. We are hearing supportive words from our partners. In the Netherlands, we will have meetings with the presidents of the lower and upper houses of the parliament, as well as the president of Eurojust. We will have public discussions, discussions with political scientists.

We, the Parliament of Georgia and the Government are doing everything to fulfill the 12 points.

Several laws have already been adopted. Until the end of the year, we will have the opportunity to make relevant changes regarding several items. Then it will be up to the European Union to make a fair assessment and appropriate decision," said Shalva Papuashvili.

The above remarks were disseminated by the press service of the Parliament of Georgia.
