According to the Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Gharibashvili, Georgia and Austria have great potential to further deepen and strengthen mutual cooperation in all directions, be it economy, trade, or cooperation in the field of security. Irakli Gharibashvili stated about it at a joint briefing with the Federal Chancellor of the Republic of Austria, Karl Nehammer.

"Thank you very much, Mr. Chancellor, dear colleague. I want to first of all thank you for the invitation. This is my first official visit to Austria and I am very happy about it. It is a great honor for me to be here today, I want to tell you that we value friendship, relations and cooperation with Austria very much. We spoke with the Chancellor about the priority areas on which we should focus in the coming months and years. We have a great potential to further deepen and strengthen our mutual cooperation in all directions, be it economy, trade, or cooperation in the field of security", said Irakli Gharibashvili.

As the head of the Government noted, Georgians share common European values ​​and the main motivation is for Georgia to become a member of the European Union.

"I also want to note with pride, symbolically, that this year we celebrate the 30th anniversary of the restoration of diplomatic relations, so I want to thank you once again, Mr. Chancellor, for the invitation.

As Mr. Chancellor mentioned, it is a very important period for us, Georgians, we were waiting for the decision of the European Commission. The decision of the European Council can be evaluated as historic, as stated by the European leaders themselves. We Georgians share common European values, our main motivation is for Georgia to become a member state of the European Union, a member country of the big European family. I would also like to point out that, of course, giving us a European perspective is a recognition of the progress achieved over the years, and we appreciate it very much," said the Prime Minister.
