"We have managed to finish 2019 with the historic maximum. We gained the highest excise tax from both the fuel and cigarettes," Finance Minister Vano Machavariani said in an interview with Giorgi Isakadze, Editor-in-Chief of Forbes Georgia.
"I would like to link two themes – these are fuel and cigarette excise taxes.
These are generally very important sources of filling our budget. Traditionally, those are the most vulnerable sectors for the fraud. We have managed to finish 2019 with the historic maximum. We gained the highest excise tax from both the fuel and cigarettes. All kinds of fraud and problems, including smuggling are solved. We have the maximum result after all, we have made very strong progress in those directions", Vano Machavariani said.
