The passenger flow has recovered by 87% in Batumi Airport in six months of this year compared to 2019, while in Tbilisi the recovery made up 62%, - according to the general manager of the airport management company "TAV Georgia".

"We should have better results in six months, but unfortunately, the current events in Ukraine had a negative effect. 30% of the Batumi International Airport accounted for the Ukrainian market.

This year we were able to return 87% of passengers to Batumi in six months compared to 2019. We have six new airlines in Batumi, we have five new airlines in Tbilisi, and we were able to return 62% of passengers to Tbilisi International Airport in 6 months, compared to 2019," says Tea Zakaradze.

According to the general manager of TAV Georgia, Tbilisi needs many European destinations, which the operator is actively working on.

"You know that Condor Airlines started operating in Tbilisi. We have a lot of traffic from the Gulf countries both in Tbilisi and in Batumi. Also, from Israel, which is very important for Batumi.

The news in Tbilisi is that EuroWings has added a Stuttgart route. In general, Tbilisi needs more European destinations, and we are working very hard on this.

It is also interesting that Thai Airways will restore charter flights from Tbilisi to Bankog from October", - says Tea Zakaradze.
