The European Investment Bank (EIB) Regional Representative in the South Caucasus Machie Chura declares, that the EIB will continue to finance the country's infrastructure projects, as well as a special program focused on improving access to finance for businesses in the country.

Regarding the economic situation, Machie Chura refrained from making specific predictions and said that the bank will continue to monitor this.

"There are many variables related to economic growth and we must always look at the emergency situation that the Covid-19 pandemic has caused in recent years, as well as the Russian aggression in Ukraine, and this gives different economic results, and we will observe how things will develop in the future.

On the one hand, we continue to observe and work with various stakeholders for the development of infrastructure, while on the other - we continue to develop projects that improve access to finance for businesses in the country," said Machie Chura.

In Georgia, EIB has financed 29 projects with a volume of more than EUR 2 billion, 49% of the amount was provided to the road infrastructure projects, 17% - to the businesses (credit lines); 10% - water supply projects, and 5% -energy.
