Last week, the Parliament of Georgia discussed the issue of interest rates on pension loans. According to the MPs, the current interest rate applying to the pension loan is too high, which amounts to 30%.

“We think whatever the market price is this is the fair price”, Liberty Bank CEO Vasil Khodeli so responded to the issue of interest rates on pension loans with The Checkpoints.

Vasil Khodeli notes that the bank often catches if the price of the products delivered to the elderly population is fair enough or they are the victims of any kind of monopoly.

“We think whatever the market price is this is the market price. We consider it fair. We have shown several numbers and statics, which shows that we fairly serve to the elderly as well as any other population”, Kkhodeli noted.

As for the government’s new biding, which will be announced in 2022 and enable Liberty Bank and other banks to take part in the tender, Khodeli notes, that all the government bodies must be involved in the formulation of protentional bidding terms and conditions.

“They must sit down and rethink the scheme which would provide more grounds for optimizing the cost of some products that our elder population might use”, - Khodeli added.
