The competition agency has started investigating the possible artificial increase in the prices of Turkish medicines, - the chairman of the competition agency, Irakli Lekvinadze, made a corresponding statement.

Before that, the Ministry of Health issued a statement on the issue. The state body said that the ministry would have a strict response to such violations.

Deputy Minister of Health, Tamar Gabunia, states that it is very important to prevent violations.

"Last year, the main goal of the Ministry of Health was that as a result of the carried out reforms, we would achieve maximum accessibility in terms of price reduction. For this, special conditions were created for medicines imported from Turkey to make the registration mechanism as well as market access easy. It also serves the interests of Georgian citizens. For the citizens of Georgia, this remains the primary goal, and we deeply believe, that the main goal of the pharmaceutical sector is to provide quality and affordable medicine on the market, and we think that we have the same strategic goal in this direction", - Tamar Gabunia.
