Investment risks of energy projects were discussed at the seminar organized by USAID. Renewable energy development trends, as well as disinformation risks, which hinder the development of energy projects, were also considered.

Levan Vepkhvadze, Executive Director of the Georgian Business Association from the Private Sector, attended the seminar, noting that investors expect clear messages and visions from the government to plan the future projects.

"The key is to understand energy policy tasks exactly. If the main goal is consumer tariff reduction, it means that we will not have investments, but if we say that our goal is to encourage investments, this is the task which should be seen from a different point of view. At this stage, I see that the main task is to reduce consumer tariffs, but this may give us lack of our own electricity especially in the long term. Demand for electricity is growing and if we do not respond to the demand tomorrow, we will have a serious problem", - said Levan Vepkhvadze.
