Minister of Economy Natia Turnava declares that tourist flow increased due to the opening of land border by the government of Georgia.
"A week ago, we decided to open the land borders. It gave us the first results and tourist flows increased in terms of crossing land borders. Rail passenger traffic between Armenia and Georgia was restored. On June 15, the first train will depart from Yerevan to Batumi via Tbilisi, which means that tourists from our neighboring country traditionally visit Georgia.
Smooth movement is underway along the land border with the Republic of Turkey. The number of tourists from Ukraine has increased. They can visit us both by air and by sea. With Azerbaijan, as we know, work is underway to admit their citizens as tourists in Georgia. We hope that this decision will not be delayed and we will be able to host Azerbaijani tourists," Turnava said.
The Minister of Economy also spoke about the entry of new airlines on the Georgian air market and noted that it created very positive expectations for the continuation of the tourism recovery process as a whole.
The Minister declares that the Coordinating Council will once again discuss the rules for receiving tourists in the country in order to make the border crossing more comfortable.
