Deputy Health Minister Tamar Gabunia talks about the safety measures of COVID-19 for the elections. According to Gabunia, the experience of holding elections amid the pandemic has already been accumulated, but three are three main rules: face mask, distance and hand disinfection.
"We have already gained experience jointly with the Election Administration of Georgia since last year's elections. The protocol already exists. This year, the difference is that the vaccination process has been quite intense among the staff and they have high coverage.
By the beginning of September, more than 75% of employees had already been vaccinated, which has continued, and I think the current rate will be higher. The three basic rules will apply, these are the use of personal clothing, social distance and hand hygiene. Polling places will be equipped with sanitizers and there will also be suitable conditions for keeping the queue. Safe elections are very important. The testing program is valid and this approach will be active on the day of the elections as well,” - Tamar Gabunia said.
