Marina Ezugbaia, the medical director of the Infectious Diseases Hospital, says that with the increase in the number of infected people, the mortality rate is also growing and we cannot escape this natural phenomenon.

“Mortality rate depends on severe and critical patients. When the number of new infections increases, there is a sharp growth in the number of severe and critically ill patients, and the mortality rate in severe and critical patients also increases.

This is a normal phenomenon that we cannot escape. When the fourth wave started and the disease increased sharply, it was followed by an increase in lethality. We have the highest peak now, which means that with the reduction of the number of infected people, the lethality may begin to decrease," Ezugbaia said.

As of September 3, 86 citizens have died of coronavirus in Georgia in the last 24 hours.
