With regard to the annual core inflation the prices increased by 5.4%, while the annual core inflation without tobacco amounted to 5% - Geostat released new statistics today.

Acccording to Geostat, the annual inflation rate was mainly influenced by price changes for the following groups:
Food and non-alcoholic beverages: the prices in the group increased by 5.5%, contributing 1.74 percentage points to the overall annual inflation rate. Including: oils and fats (17.3%), coffee, tea and cocoa (13.6%), fish (10.3%), bread and cereals (7.8%), milk, cheese and eggs (6%), sugar, jam, honey, chocolate and confectionery (4.5%), mineral waters, soft drinks, fruit and vegetable juices (4.2%), meat (3.5%), vegetables (2.2%). The only decrease was for fruit and grapes (-3.2%);

Health: the prices went up by 9%, contributing 0.73 percentage points to the overall annual inflation rate. The prices increased for medical products, appliances and equipment (13.5%) and out-patient services (11.8%);

Alcoholic beverages and tobacco: the prices increased by 9%, with a relevant contribution of 0.59 percentage points to the overall annual inflation rate. The prices increased for both tobacco (13.5%) and alcoholic beverages (5.1%);

Transport: the prices increased by 6%, contributing -0.74 percentage points to the overall annual inflation rate. Within the group the prices increased for operation of personal transport equipment (-8%) and transport services (-4.2 %). The prices were higher for the subgroup of purchase of vehicles (5.1%).
