Which regions contributed more to value-added in 2019? - Geostat

According to Geostat, in 2019 year Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of Georgia at current prices amounted to 49 252.7 million GEL. The largest share of GDP by regions is held by Tbilisi (51.2%), followed by Adjara A.R. (10.1%), Imereti (8.5%), Kvemo Kartli (7.5%) and Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti (5.7%).

The largest share in the value-added of Tbilisi is held by wholesale and retail trade; repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles (21.1%), followed by real estate activities (12.3%) and construction (10.1%).

In Adjara A.R. which comes the second by the share in the value-added, the primary sectors include construction (19.9%), real estate activities (13.9%), accommodation and food service activities (10.3%).

Imereti closes the circle of the largest shares in the value-added with manufacturing (13.2%), agriculture, forestry and fishing (12.4%) and real estate activities (12%) – these represent the main spheres of economic activity.

Official statistics also show that the significant shares of value added are held by the following sectors in Kvemo Kartli: manufacturing (22.8%), agriculture, forestry and fishing (17.6%) and public administration and defense; compulsory social security (7.1%).
