After representatives of the restaurant sector could not achieve agreement on the opening with the government, the sector announced to open arbitrarily on February 6.

The Deputy Minister of Health, Tamar Gabunia explained why restaurants are not opened after the meeting of the Interagency Coordination Council. She explains that the opening of restaurants is part of the gradual opening.

"People in a restaurant cannot use a mask, which is the main means of protection. Moreover, as we know, we are talking about the consistent opening of the economy, it means that essential services must be restored, which is very important for society. It is a public transport, which will be followed by reopening of schools. If we are talking about consistent opening, this is a logical sequence," said Tamar Gabunia.

According to her, the experiment is not allowed and opening must be sustainable.

"If we open it today and close again tomorrow, it will not be right. One out of every 100 people will die and it would be wrong to conduct such an experiment at the expense of human life," Tamar Gabunia said.

Economy Minister Natia Turnava warns restaurants that strict measures will be followed to the disobedience.
