Tbilisi Energy is not going to revise the decision, which provides gas tariff increase for bread-producing enterprises like other commercial consumers from July.

Edisher Khorava, Commercial Director of Tbilisi Energy, told BMG that the company supplies gas to commercial customers at a cheaper price compared to the regions and will continue to do so after the price increase.

The company announced on May 31 that from July 1, the price of gas for commercial customers will be set at 1.35 GEL per cubic meter, including value-added tax. This means an increase of 25 tetri compared to the current tariff.

"Today, the company is not financially viable to subsidize bread-producing enterprises at the expense of its own resources, so we have announced gas tariff increase. The question, whether this decision will be revised, the answer is that it is possible, but it depends on the situation in terms of gas prices in the near future, as well as the exchange rate of GEL against foreign currencies, so if the company has the financial ability, we will reconsider the tariffs and impose some benefits," Khorava said.

According to the Commercial Director of Tbilisi Energy, the company’s financial data are already known to both the regulatory commission and the state, so there should not be additional questions about the tariff.

“Our purchase price is already known to both the regulator and the state. Whatever we were saying it stems from this data. If I said something that would be unreliable with the data, no one would have allowed the company to do so," Khorava said.

Like Tbilisi Energy, SOCAR has also increased gas tariffs for commercial customers. After the increase by 23 tetri, the gas tariff in the regions will be GEL 1.38 including VAT, while the gas tariff for bread enterprises in the regions will be GEL 1.15 - the current tariff is GEL 0.95.
