Davit Songhulashvili, Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Sectoral Economics and Economic Policy declares, that without large hydropower plants, Georgia will still be energy dependent on neighboring countries.

"You mentioned that the construction of 37 HPPs was signed. This is not bad for sure. Without Namakhvani, Nenskra and Khudoni, we would still be energy dependent on our neighbor countries, where all types of energy projects are developed from wind to nuclear stations. I think, it is important to increase generation. A group of MPs is preparing an act of energy independence and we will be ready to open a wide discussion in this regard soon. This is the strategy by which the country will be able to become energy independent," Songhulashvili said.

The Minister of Economy, who was in the Parliament in the format of "Minister Hour", explained the negative attitudes towards the HPPs with hybrid war and propaganda.
