After the completion of Oni-Sachkhere road, travel from Sachkhere to Oni will decrease by 1 hour, while it will take 3 hours to drive from Tbilisi to Oni, instead of 5 hours that is necessary today, Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili stated while familiarizing himself with construction and reconstruction works on the Oni-Sachkhere road. He was accompanied by Parliament Speaker Kakha Kuchava.

According to the Head of Government, the road's construction will be finalized by the end of September.

According to Minister of regional Development and Infrastructure Irakli Karseladze, the 51-kilometer Zemo Imereti-Racha connector starts in Sachkhere and merges with the Ambrolauri-Oni road.

Most of the construction work has already been completed. The project's overall value is 111,165,310 GEL.
