What Did Georgia Sell/Buy In Russia In 2021?

Georgia’s external trade increased by 25.6% up to USD 14.3 billion in 2021, of which USD 4.242 billion was foreign trade, while imports amounted to USD 10.073 billion. TOP-10 trade partners occupied 69.5% in Georgia’s total external trade.

Georgia’s TOP-3 trade partners were Turkey (USD 2.145 billion), Russia (USD 1.638 billion) and China (USD 1.480 billion) in 2021. China, which ranked on the second place in 2020, was replaced by Georgia's northern neighbor Russia in 2021 and as a result, 11.4% of Georgia’s foreign trade accounted for Russia.

China is still on the first place in exports, where goods worth of 615.6 million were exported. Exports to China increased by 29%. Exports to Russia grew at a faster rate (38%) reaching to USD 610 million, the country left Azerbaijan behind and became Georgia's second largest export market – its share at the total exports amounted to 14.4%.

TOP-10 of the commodity groups exported from Georgia to Russia in 2021:

1. Ferroalloys - 104 795 tons; cost of USD 171.8 million,
2. Natural grape wines - 47,357 tons; cost of USD 130.7 million,
3. Mineral and fresh water - 107 429 tons; cost of USD 60.9 million,
4. Alcoholic beverages - 9 903 tons; cost of USD 41.2 million,
5. Fresh apricots, cherries and cherries, peaches and plums - 25 911 tons; cost of GEL 26.7 million;
6. Waters, including mineral and carbonated, containing sugar additives - 39 069 tons; cost of USD 26 million;
7. Fresh or dried citrus fruits - 34 228 tons; cost of USD 19.5 million,
8. Cars – USD 17.2 million;
9. Cigars, cigarillos and cigarettes - 1 526 tons; cost of USD 14.5 million,
10. Fresh or frozen potatoes - 33,165 tons; cost of USD 14.3 million.
Exports of other goods amounted to USD 178.6 million.

Russia takes the second place by imports as well. Imports value increased by 15.8% last year compared to 2020 and Georgia spent USD 1 billion on the purchase of various products.

2. Petroleum gases and other gaseous hydrocarbons - 319 181 tons, cost of USD 96.9 million;
3. Wheat and muslin - 337 694 tons; cost of USD 87.4 million,
4. Sunflower oil - 28 350 tons; USD 41.6 million,
5. Telephones - 46 tons; USD 37.3 million,
6. Chocolate and other finished products containing cocoa - 10,935 tons; cost of USD 25.7 million,
7. Coke and semi-coke from coal, lignite or peat - 63,646 tons; cost of USD 23.4 million,
8. Bottles and other glass capacities - 51 786 tons; cost of USD 19.7 million,
9. Bread - 11,745 tons; cost of USD 18.8 million,
10. Margarine - 12,069 tons, cost of USD 17.7 million.
