Georgia's revenue from tourism $ 700 million down in August-September

According to the National Bank of Georgia’s report, foreign visitors spent $ 15.6 million in Georgia last month. The figure is 95% less comparing to September 2019.

Georgia's revenue from tourism is $ 700 million down in August-September y-o-y. Namely, decline in September has made up $303 million, while in August - $397 million.

However, Georgia received a record number of international travelers in 2019 and amounted to 9.36 million. It should be noted, that travel was the main purpose for 5 million visitors. So, they spent more than $ 3 billion in the country.

A total of 50,499 international visitors crossed the Georgian border last month. The number of visitors is 94% less comparing to 2019. In September, the largest number of visitors - 18,540 came from Turkey. However, visits from Turkey is declined by 80% y-o-y.

According to the statists, 88% of visitors entered the country by land, while 10% - by air. 2% of travelers visited the country by the railway and maritime transport.
