In January-June 2023 the external merchandise trade (excluding non-declared trade) of Georgia amounted to USD 10.3 billion, 20.1% higher to the same period of 2022.
The exports equaled USD 3.1 billion (19.3% higher), while the imports stood at USD 7.2 billion (20.4% higher). The negative trade balance was USD 4.2 billion in January-June 2023 and its share in external trade turnover constituted 40.5%.
In January-June 2023 the share of the top ten trading partners in the total external trade turnover of Georgia amounted to 68.6%. The top trading partners were Turkey (USD 1 457.7 million), Russia (USD 1 271.2 million) and USA (USD 820.9 million).
In January-June 2023 motor cars claimed the first place in the list of top export items, equaling USD 990.9 million with 32.5% of total exports. The exports of copper ores and concentrates totaled USD 341.3 million and their share in the total exports amounted to 11.2%. The exports of wine of fresh grapes occupied the third place standing at USD 126.0 million and constituting 4.1% of the total exports.
