With the resumption of the learning process in the classroom, monitoring has been tightened in schools to prevent the spread of the virus.

This is stated in the release issued by the Ministry of Education, where it is also mentioned that according to the data of the last week, 108 schools and 687 separate classes have switched to distance learning throughout Georgia.

"Teacher testing on Covid-19 is still underway. School staff - teachers, resource officers, administrators and technical staff - are tested intensively using both PCR technology and rapid antigen testing.

In the event of Covid-19 detection, to prevent internal spread, schools will act on the recommendation of healthcare professionals and a separate class or school will immediately switch to distance learning.

As for the rate of infection, according to last week's data, the virus was confirmed in 0.9% of teachers and 0.6% of students," the release reads.

According to the Ministry, 69% of teachers and school administrative staff have been vaccinated at this stage.

The Ministry once again calls on the whole school community to follow the recommendations of the healthcare sector as much as possible, to be actively involved in the vaccination process.
