Businessman Valeri Gelashvili is developing a large-scale residential project in the center of Khashuri, involving the construction of a 200-apartment, 17-story building. Gelashvili confirmed the information to BM.GE, noting that the total investment value of the project is estimated at $8–10 million and completion is planned within two years.

According to him, the first floor of the building will be allocated to commercial spaces, while the remaining floors will be used for residential apartments. The project is being implemented by “Terrasa Iveria,” a company owned by Gelashvili himself. He also said that groundwork has already been completed and construction has begun.

Gelashvili explained that the site previously hosted the old Hotel “Iveria,” which was later converted into a school. He said the structure had become outdated and required redevelopment to make the city center more attractive. He also noted that while an initial plan envisioned a 22-story building, the municipality approved a reduced height of 17 floors instead.

The businessman stated that this is not his first development project in Khashuri, as he has already built 8-story residential buildings in the city. He also revealed plans for further development on a 26,000-square-meter site near the local police station. However, the project has sparked criticism online, with some residents arguing that a 17-story building is not in line with the city’s architectural character.
