Lasha Iordanishvili, CEO of Peri, told BMG that the company will complete its 206-megawatt wind power plant this July. The project is being implemented by Wind Power, a subsidiary within the Peri Group. The new facility, located in the village of Ruisi in Kareli municipality, will include 33 turbines and is financed by a $119 million loan from the EBRD.

According to Iordanishvili, only about three months remain before completion. Once launched, the plant will significantly support Georgia’s energy system during periods of deficit and help reduce electricity imports.

In addition to the wind project, Peri is developing several hydropower plants with a combined capacity of 150 MW. One project has already moved into the construction phase, while two others are still in the research stage. These are expected to be completed within the next three to four years, alongside other large-scale projects currently under study.

This year, Georgia’s power system will also gain 100 MW of new solar capacity. The company is building a 50 MW plant in Marneuli, a 25 MW plant in Patardzeuli, and several smaller 2 MW facilities across Kakheti and Kvemo Kartli. Currently, Georgia operates two wind farms with a combined capacity of about 40 MW - the 19 MW Zemo Kartli Wind Farm and the 21 MW Kartli Wind Farm.
