From 2022 to the present day, around 235 forest land lease agreements have been signed in Armenia, with a total investment amounting to approximately 15.1 billion drams (over $38.8 million). This was announced by the head of the SNCO "Armles" Sevak Markosyan at a press conference on July 15.
The annual rent for these forest lands amounts to 92 million drams (about $230,000). All lessees are required to submit reports on their investments in accordance with a government decision.
Markosyan emphasized that "Armles" monitors the fulfillment of lessees' financial obligations, identifies shortcomings and violations of the Forest Code, and informs the ecopatrol service about these issues.
The head of the Forest Policy Department of the Ministry of Environment of Armenia, Artur Petrosyan, added that most applicants for forest land leases present programs aimed at developing tourism and recreation.
