A new 25-megawatt solar power plant, named Mzis Veli, is set to be developed near the village of Patardzeuli in Georgia’s Sagarejo Municipality, according to permits issued by the Environmental Supervision Department.
The project will be connected to Georgia’s national electricity grid through a 110-kilovolt transmission line. To facilitate the connection, the Georgian State Electrosystem has applied for the necessary construction permits for the high-voltage infrastructure.
The development is being implemented as a public-private partnership. The Energy Development Fund of Georgia holds a 10% stake in Mzis Veli and owns the 8.4-hectare site where the solar plant will be built. The remaining 90% is owned by Veli LLC, a company founded by businessman Lasha Iordanishvili.
According to the environmental impact documentation, the project will include 1,974 solar panel mounting structures and a dedicated substation equipped with two 16 MW transformers. The facility will connect to the existing 110 kV “Udabno” transmission line located approximately 800 meters from the site, enabling the electricity generated by the plant to be fed into Georgia’s unified power system.
