A large-scale assessment of Armenia’s customs service employees resulted in the dismissal of 40% of the workforce, announced Rafael Gevorgyan, Deputy Chairman of the State Revenue Committee (SRC), during a parliamentary session on January 22.
As part of the newly implemented image evaluation system, the SRC conducted a comprehensive review of customs service staff. The evaluation determined that a significant portion of the personnel failed to meet the established criteria, leading to their dismissal.
“Providing quality service to citizens is our top priority, and any breaches of ethical standards by customs officers will be strictly addressed,” Gevorgyan emphasized during his address on January 22.
The Deputy Chairman also noted that specific risk assessment criteria are applied during customs control, which may require additional checks. However, the details of these criteria are confidential and will not be disclosed.
The SRC has announced a recruitment campaign to fill the vacant positions. The process of replacing the dismissed employees is expected to be completed in the near future.
