802 million GEL allocated from the 2020 budget for the universal healthcare program is already over.
However, the Ministry of Health added GEL 95 million to the program by the end of the year, which increased the total program expenditures to GEL 897 million.
As of November 18, the total utilization of the program is 831 million GEL. Accordingly, 66 million GEL might be used by the end of the year.
This is not the first case, when the budget for the universal health care program is over before the end of the year. The same happened in 2019, 2018, 2017, 2016 and 2015, when medical expenses increased faster than planned.
In 2019, 754 million GEL was earmarked for the program, although the actual costs amounted to 828 million GEL.
In total, the budget of the Ministry of Refugees, Labor, Health and Social Affairs for 2020 is set at 5.6 billion GEL, of which 4.9 billion GEL has already been used.
