The Georgian Competition and Consumer Agency (GCCA) has imposed fines on nine traders from various sectors in August 2025 for failing to comply with obligations set by the agency, with total fines amounting to up to GEL 71,625.

The case concerns violations of the Law of Georgia on the Protection of Consumer Rights, under which, in line with GCCA decisions, traders were obliged to align their trade policies with the relevant provisions of the law.

Ongoing monitoring revealed that the decisions issued by the GCCA had not been implemented. Accordingly, the Agency imposed fines on the following traders: LLC “iPhone Georgia” – GEL 30,774; LLC “Motif” – GEL 33,927; Individual Entrepreneur Mzia Gorduladze – GEL 600; LLC “Leki” – GEL 2,722; Individual Entrepreneur Giorgi Zakaradze – GEL 600; Individual Entrepreneur Revaz Kaladze – GEL 600; Individual Entrepreneur Zurab Namgaladze – GEL 1,200; Individual Entrepreneur Alexandre Baramidze – GEL 600; LLC “Clinic Healthy and Company” – GEL 600.

According to the GCCA, the imposition of a fine does not relieve the trader from the obligation to comply with the Agency’s decision. The penalty procedure is initiated only after a violation is confirmed and the trader fails to fulfill the obligations imposed for the protection of consumer rights.

According to the legislation, when a trader fails to execute or improperly executes a decision of the Agency within the period determined by the Agency, the trader shall be penalized, ranging from a minimum of 600 GEL to a maximum of 2% of the trader’s annual turnover for the previous financial year. If, during a period of 12 months, a trader commits a violation repeatedly, he/she shall be subject to a penalty which is double the amount of the previously imposed penalty.

FYI: In 2025, the GCCA imposed fines totaling up to GEL 105,000 on 49 traders for failing to comply with its decisions.
