The grape harvest in Kakheti is at its peak. According to the National Wine Agency, 182,200 tons of grapes had been processed in the region as of October 6, with 99% classified as high- and medium-quality grapes. Low-quality and unripe grapes accounted for just 1%.

Saperavi accounts for the largest share of processed grapes at 92,100 tons, followed by Rkatsiteli at 77,400 tons, with the remainder comprising other varieties. Around 13,200 growers have delivered their harvest so far. Currently, 13,000–14,000 tons of grapes are being processed in Kakheti each day.

To ensure the harvest proceeds smoothly and all grapes are accepted, the state plans to purchase growers’ harvest even in the event of excess supply. The Harvest Management Company is accepting grapes from individuals at 22 locations across different municipalities in Kakheti.

The purchase price depends on the grape variety and sugar content. Saperavi with sugar content of 20% or more is purchased for GEL 1.50/kg, 16–20% for GEL 1, and below 16% for GEL 0.50. For Rkatsiteli and other wine varieties, the rates are GEL 1.30/kg for 19% or more, GEL 0.90 for 16–19%, and GEL 0.50 for below 16%. The harvest is coordinated by the headquarters in Gurjaani. In September, growers protested grape prices, after which the Wine Agency announced changes to purchase prices and lowered quality requirements.
