On July 23, Armenian Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure Gnel Sanosyan visited the largest solar power plant, "Masrik-1".
According to the press service of the ministry, the minister reviewed the progress of construction works and spoke with engineers and builders.
The project involves the construction of a 55 MW power plant, which will significantly increase the production of renewable energy.
The Masrik-1 plant is privately owned by the Spanish company FRV, with the local contractor being the company Shtigen.
The project is expected to be completed by the fall of 2024.
BMG reminds that the share of solar power plants in Armenia's total electricity production has been growing in recent years, reaching just over 4% in the first half of 2023. At the end of 2023, the Armenian government announced its goal to increase the capacity of solar power plants to 1500 MW.
