A full lockdown has been announced in Turkey. According to local media, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has declared a universal lockdown until May 17. Schools have been closed and inter-city movement has been restricted due to the increase in the number of coronavirus cases in the country.
Erdogan said the new restrictions will not affect the manufacturing and food sectors.
For reference, more than 38,500 new cases were registered in Turkey in the last 24 hours. To date, there have been 4,629,969 confirmed cases of coronavirus in the country, with more than 38,000 people deceased.
